The Best Blind Date

Ok one of the down sides of moving to New York was that I was leaving my family in Australia, my friends and comfort zone in Provo, and that Josh would only be able to stay in town for a few days. At the very beginning, immediately preceding and following the move there were some very teary moments where a mixture of stage fright and loneliness hit. Luckily a blessing came in the form of Cherie. When Josh was at BYU-I, he lived with a man named Jon. Jon and I were friends via Josh, and so it came to my great surprise one night during my first week in NY when Jon informed me that he had a girlfriend, and that she had just moved to New York too. And so the blind date was arranged (by us girls; the boyfriends just provided the phone numbers).
Cherie and I met up before the New York regional singles conference and completely hit it off. By the next day at the early morning service project helping the flood victims in NJ, our new friends Laura and Jesse couldn't believe we had met only the night before. (by the end of a long day of ripping out moldy carpet and dry wall we couldn't believe we had just met them either).
So today my lovely kindred spirit Cherie and I spent Columbus day (another random American semi-holiday) basking in the beautiful weather and shopping. We covered Soho, and saw many great things. We both bought uniqlo wool coats that were on sale for the crime of being japanese sizes in America. We ate Salami pizza at Eataly (I love salami; first love with meat ever for me!) and finished up at the upper west side frozen yogurt. Girl time is simply indispensable and I am so happy for the blessing of Cherie!
